About DMPS

What is DMPS?

٭ DMPS stands for 2,3- dimercapto-1-propane sulfonic acid.
٭ It has the molecular formula of C3H8O3S3.
٭ DMPS is a chelating agent, which is a substance that binds to heavy metal.
٭ DMPS specifically binds to mercury, lead and arsenic, and forms stable complexes with these
metals, allowing them to be eliminated from the body.
٭ DMPS is water soluble compound, so it can be administered orally.
